Incorporated up in 1979, The National Chambal Sanctuary is a Riverine Sanctuary spread across for an approximately 425 km length of the Chambal River. Located on the Chambal River near the trip point of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh, it was first declared in Madhya Pradesh in 1978.the Chambal Valley is a mere 70 kms SE of Agra 1.0 hours' drive from the TajMahal. The National Chambal Sanctuary is one of the last surviving habitats of the Gangetic River Dolphin and also provides protection for 1200 Gharials& 300 Marsh Crocodiles.
Day 01: Delhi-National Chambal Sanctuary
Meals: Lunch & Dinner
Morning drive from Delhi to National Chambal Sanctuary (04:30 Hrs). Arrive lunch time in Hotel. After lunch proceed to Bateshwar Temple visit, Village visit. Return to the lodge at evening. Dinner and overnight stay at Hotel.
Day 02: National Chambal Sanctuary
Meals: Breakfast , Lunch & Dinner
In the morning and afternoon we will go at Chamabl River for boat cruise. It is 10 km from the hotel. We will enjoy Cruise River for three to four hours for species like Indian skimmer, sarus and Demoiselle cranes. Dinner and overnight stay at Hotel.
Day 03: National Chambal Sanctuary-Delhi
Morning enjoy for nature walk near the lodge. After breakfast drive to Delhi. A visit to TajMahal and Red fort enroute is optional. Reach Delhi in the evening. Tour end.
Bateshwar Temples are a set of 108 Shiva temples on banks of River Yamuna and is most unique as its one of the rare temples where Shiva is depicted as a person and not a Linga. Shortly after Bateshwar Temple, Yamuna River meets the Chambal River and the entire area is haven for Bird watchers. There is a healthy population of alligators as well. Boats are available on hire for guests.

Around Bah, Yamuna River meets the Chambal River and the entire area is haven for Bird watchers. The area is maintained by Chambal Conservation Foundation (set up in 1999 by Kunwar Ram Pratap Singh and his wife, local royal family members), is known for Gangetic Dolphins, Migratory Birds, Alligators, Crocodiles.
Village visit around Chambal:
The Villages around the Chambal area provide an interesting insight into rural India. One can still find a potter at his wheel making earthen ware kullars (cups), a cobbler using the simplest implements to fashion and repair a most interesting variety of leather items, and shops selling all manner of goods from jaggery blocks to hand-woven quilts. Village walks are popularly organized here for experiential travellers.
Sarus Crane Reserve:
The Sarus Crane Conservation Reserve starts around 30 kms from Bah extending to about 100 kms. These large wetland areas that are diffused with cultivated fields, is also a breeding ground for Sarus Cranes.
Patna Bird Sanctuary:
The Patna Bird Sanctuary is a designated sanctuary (since 1990) covers a wetland habitat of one sq. km. that includes marsh, Khajur forest and a lake full of weeds and is home to over 200 bird species in the winter months. During this period more than 300,000 birds can be found in this area, transforming the small lake into a riot of colours and sounds. It is a good place to see large flocks of birds such as Cranes, Geese, Ducks, Waders, Cormorants and Spoonbills.
The National Chambal Sanctuary consists of about 400 km of the Chambal River. Chambal is located 80 km south of Agra on Rajasthan, UP and Madhya Pradesh border in the legendary Chambal Valley. The area is a haven for bird watcher and excellent for sighting alligators.
